Welcome to Swedish massage!
In Sweden, where I received my first training, Swedish massage was regarded not so much as a single technique, but more like a tool box from which we pick the elements suitable for the treatment at hand. Thus, one of the reasons for its enduring popularity is the versatility of its application. It can be used for improving circulation, getting rid of toxins, dealing with muscular tensions and sport injuries as well as for the purpose of general relaxation and of relieving stress. After 20 years as a massage therapist I have come to use a style of massage that is based on the deep tissue Swedish method, but also incorporates elements of Aston technique and Slavic massage among others. Of course, a massage should always be a pleasant experience; you should never feel that you need to have a "problem" to treat yourself to a treatment! <a
